As if you needed them, right?  Reasons to be fit.  Or to give yourself a gift for that matter.

Yet that can be precisely the stumbling block for so many of us.  You’re reluctant (translation: feel guilty) to ‘take the time for yourself’.  As if self-care were not a requirement for a productive life of contribution.  You know what they say about the oxygen mask on the plane…

3 reasons to give yourself the gift of fitness

Next time you get that twinge of guilt for taking time to keep your prime investment – your body – in shape, remember these 3 very run-up-the-flagpole outcomes of having a body that is fit:

1)  A positive outlook:  At day’s end, what, besides our health, is truly ours – besides our outlook and attitude?  A fit body = increased vitality for life.

Being fit helps me feel more confident. I’m confident that my body is working properly and that I am doing whatever I can to keep it that way. I believe that when I don’t keep myself fit, I begin to have a lower outlook on life. When I’m not fit I don’t feel well. When one doesn’t feel well, their outlook changes, it’s a spiral. Therefore, I keep myself fit, physically and spiritually to KEEP me from spiraling.  ~ Laura-Grace

2)  The finding beauty snowball effect:  Is this related to “smile, and the whole world smiles with you” – ?

I so agree with confident n self care n would add beautiful. I am so much more aware of my muscles & stand &  sit up straighter and just feel beautiful. I believe if you treat your body like it’s beautiful, like eating well and doing beautiful things like exercise for it, it will feel that way and will be! When I feel beautiful I feel happier and can find the beauty in others more, too. Which makes me happier in turn. Kinda a snowball effect I guess. ~ Cathy Krause M.

3)  You model the importance of self-care.   You want significant others in your life to care for their health?  So that you don’t have to worry about them?  We learn by example.  Be one.

Being fit and working at it are ways that you are not only taking charge but demonstrating self-care which is also self-respect. It’s made a huge difference in my enjoyment and happiness every day.    ~ Athena Jennings
